Steel Ordering & MOQ FAQs

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our standard minimum order quantity (MOQ) typically ranges from 1 to 5 metric tons per specification, depending on the product type and current inventory. For common sizes in stock, we may accommodate smaller trial orders. Custom manufacturing runs generally require a higher MOQ to ensure production efficiency.

At SEG Steel, we understand the varied needs of global B2B buyers. While our industrial production is optimized for large-scale orders, we maintain a flexible approach for established partners and trial shipments. The MOQ for specialized alloys or custom-dimensioned pipes might be higher due to machine setup requirements. We recommend bundling several specifications to reach a full container load, which significantly reduces the unit shipping cost.

How do I place an order?

Placing an order involves four simple steps: Submit an inquiry with your specifications, receive a formal quotation, confirm the Proforma Invoice (PI), and settle the initial deposit. Once the deposit is verified, we initiate production or preparation for shipment, keeping you updated throughout the entire process.

To begin, you can use our online quote request form or email our sales department directly. Please include details such as steel grade, dimensions, quantity, and destination port. Our experts will provide a comprehensive quote including lead times. Upon agreement, we issue a PI detailing payment terms and technical specs. Production starts immediately after the financial arrangements are finalized.

What is your delivery time?

Standard delivery times range from 15 to 30 days after receipt of deposit or L/C confirmation. Stock items can be dispatched within 7 days. Timelines vary based on order volume, customization requirements, and the current production schedule. We prioritize urgent projects and provide transparent lead times.

Our strategic location near major Chinese ports like Tianjin and Qingdao allows for rapid logistics transition. For customized orders involving specialized heat treatments or coatings (like galvanization), the timeline may extend slightly. We provide weekly production updates so you can manage your supply chain expectations accurately.

Do you provide samples?

Yes, we provide free samples for most of our steel products to ensure quality alignment before bulk orders. While the sample material is free of charge, the customer is typically responsible for the international express shipping costs. Samples allow you to verify technical specifications and material integrity.

We believe in the quality of our steel. Providing physical samples (usually 20-30cm sections for pipes or small plates) helps bridge the trust gap in international trade. If you later place a bulk order, we often credit the sample shipping cost back to your final invoice. Samples are usually shipped via DHL, FedEx, or UPS within 3-5 business days.

Can I order mixed specifications in one container?

Absolutely. We offer flexible loading options allowing you to mix various steel specifications, grades, or sizes within a single 20ft or 40ft container. This is an ideal solution for B2B buyers looking to optimize shipping costs while maintaining a diverse inventory.

Mixing products like ERW pipes, seamless tubes, and galvanized sheets in one shipment is a common request we handle. Our logistics team is expert at calculating load distributions to ensure safe transport and maximize space utility. This "one-stop-shop" approach reduces your administrative burden and consolidated logistics overhead.
