When sourcing steel pipes for industrial, construction, or oil and gas projects, one of the most critical decisions is choosing between ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) and Seamless steel pipes. Both types have distinct manufacturing processes, physical characteristics, and cost structures.
Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) pipes are manufactured by cold-forming a flat steel strip into a rounded shape and passing it through a series of forming rollers to obtain a longitudinal seam. The seam is then welded by applying a high-frequency electric current.
Seamless pipes are made from a solid round steel "billet" which is heated and pushed or pulled over a form until the steel is shaped into a hollow pipe. Because there is no welding involved, seamless pipes have no seam.

Use ERW Pipe for: low to medium pressure applications such as water transport, structural supports, scaffolding, and fencing.
Use Seamless Pipe for: high-pressure oil and gas pipelines, chemical processing plants, and high-temperature boiler tubes where safety is paramount.
